I did this walk a couple years ago and it was so fun! I love that you took time to zig zag along your route and actually explore stuff vs just walking down Broadway. You saw so much!
I agree that Riverside Park is underrated. I spent a day walking around just that park the day after my last layoff (🥲) and was so surprised at how long it was. I also wanted to see a small monument that sort of hides in the shadow of Grant's Tomb - the Amiable Child Memorial. Did you see that one, too?
I'm actually planning another tip to tip walk this fall - maybe I'll see ya there!
I've seen that memorial before, although I didn't stop at it on this walk. It's a very somber one and part of a beautiful section of the park overall though.
Would absolutely love to join a group walk later this year!! Looking forward to it :)
First, thank you for linking to my Sugar Hill page - and I love traversing the entire length of the island! Second, if you jump from Lincoln Center to Greenwich Village, to the Civic Center without sharing what happened in between? You're missing out on sharing some genuinely iconic NYC settings.
Also, I highly recommend these approaches for your next excursion:
1. Travel south to north, that way the sun is basically to your back.
2. Pick an Avenue (1st, 10th/Amsterdam). It's simple and straightforward. You see the city morph through its various neighborhoods. And you can slow down and appreciate each street on the way.
